SWITZERLAND, DECEMBER 13 -Carlo Ancelotti has been strongly linked with the Arsenal job having been sacked by Napoli on Tuesday.Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to take over at Arsenal having been strongly linked with the role at the Emirates. Arsenal are searching for a new boss after sacking Unai Emery last month with Freddie Ljungberg currently in caretaker charge.
Ancelotti had already been linked with the role following Emery’s dismissal but speculation has increased after he was sacked by Napoli.
The Serie A side showed the former Chelsea boss the door despite leading them to the Champions League knock-out stages
And the Mirror claim that Ancelotti would be interested in the Arsenal job with the Gunners going through their shortlist.
It’s reported that Ancelotti likes London and would be a good fit for Arsenal given their current struggles.
Earlier this week, Ancelotti did play down reports linking him with a move to the Emirates, though it may change now he’s out of a job.
“I stay with Napoli, of course,” Ancelotti told BT Sport, just after Emery was shown the door.
“These are rumours! I have white hair and experience. In this moment they are all rumours.”
And Italian football expert Gabriele Marcotti believes Arsenal need to think long and hard before appointing Ancelotti.
Asked if Ancelotti would be going to Arsenal, Marcotti told ESPN FC: “I don’t know.
“As I understand it there’s been no official contact whatsoever, which makes sense because he was under contract until [Tuesday night].
“There’s no question, I think Ancelotti’s been very clear about this, he’d love to come back to the Premier League.
“Equally I think Arsenal, from what we understand, they’d hope that Freddie Ljungberg can see them through to the end of the season, that they wouldn’t be rushed into a decision.
