SWITZERLAND, JUNE 21 – Nigerian forward, Samuel Kanu has reportedly suffered a heart attack during training at Alexandria, Egypt.
“Sad news coming from Super Eagles camp as Samuel Kalu suffered a heart attack and he has been rushed to the hospital,” a source close to the Super Eagles camp in Egypt said on Friday evening.
This is coming hours before the Super Eagles of Nigeria play against Burundi in their opening match of the African Cup of Nations(AFCON) on Saturday.
Egypt is hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations which kicks off on Friday, June 21.
Today’s ECho gathers that the player has been taken to the hospital and is recuperating.
The Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) also confirmed the incidence.
Ademola Olajire, the NFF’s media chief wrote:
“”I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilised. He was taken to hospital for tests and he is certified okay. He was dehydrated, they said. Told him he needs to be taking enough fluids.”
Samuel Kalu is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as winger for French club Bordeaux.
