SWITZERLAND, AUGUST 07 – Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley has been arraigned before a mobile court in Abuja for performing at a drive-through concert at Jabi Lake Mall on June 13, 2020, in contravention of COVID-19 guidelines.
The FCT Administration filed a four-count charge against him for hosting a concert in Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja, in clear violation of COVID-19 directives on June 13, flouting the presidential ban on Interstate travels and public gatherings.
The charges were read to him under tight security at the Eagle Square, venue of where the mobile court is sitting.
After the charges were read to him, Naira Marley pleaded guilty and the presiding magistrate Idayat Akanni handed down a fine of N200, 000 on him. This comes a day after a mobile court in Lagos also fined him and his manager N100, 000 for travel out of the state for the concert.
Recall that the Federal Capital Territory Administration Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19 later sealed the mall for flouting the ban on the social gathering.
Naira Marley flew in a chartered plane meant for a Lagos judge to the Federal Capital Territory for the concert which was held on June 13.
