SWITZERLAND, JUNE 10 – Nigerian celebrities have denounced rumours that iconic actor, Olu Jacobs was dead after his wife, Joke Silva confirmed that he was alive on Tuesday.
Today’s Echo gathers that the rumour that Jacobs had died after a lingering illness was circulating on social media platforms on Tuesday before sources close to the veteran actor put a stop to the fake news.
Joke Silva said her husband is alive, adding that the “family found the development so depressing that members had to speak out.”
She also said that the family had been inundated with calls by well-wishers who wanted to find out the truth.
She added that the birthday of Olu Jacobs is next month.
Also, Nollywood actress, Lala Akindoju confirmed that the actor was alive after giving him a call
“Uncle Olu Jacobs is alive and well. Very much so. I just got off the phone with him. Please stop spreading fake news.”
Other celebrities have denounced the fake news, which they attributed to mischievous minds.
Popular actress, Kate Henshaw wrote on hier Twitter handle:
“For the love of God, stop spreading false news & spreading it too about someone’s death!! You don’t know how many emotions you toy with!! Uncle Olu Jacobs is ALIVE and WELL!! Jeeeeez.”
Olu Jacobs has starred Hollywood, Nollywood and Ghanaian movies. He has also acted in several British TV series. He won Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards, Industry Merit Award at the 2013 AMVCA and AMAA Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2016.
