SWITZERLAND, JUNE 29 – Nigerian Afro-beat artiste, Burna Boy, has won the BET Award for Best International Act for the second time.
Black Entertainment Media, the organizers of the annual BET Awards, announced the winners of the 2020 edition in the early hours of Monday, June 29.
The annual event, usually filled with glitz and glamour, could not hold physically due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Renowned British model, Naomi Campell presented the award, via a live virtual video feed.
This is Burna Boy’s second consecutive BET award. He was also the best international act in 2019. He was also nominated last year for the Grammy Awards, losing to African legend, Angelique Kidjo.
While receiving her Grammy award last year, Angelique Kidjo, a well respected international music figure, paid homage to Burna Boy, praising his talents.
These strings of awards have marked Burna Boy’s rising profile as an international music star.
