Death Toll In Lagos Boat Accident Rises To 15

Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed 15 people have lost their lives in the boat accident near Badore in Ajah.

Recall that the 20 passenger boat which left Badore in Ajah enroute Egbin jetty, Ijede in Ikorodu upturned at about 10pm on Saturday, few minutes after it took off.

A statement released by Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) and signed by its public affairs officer Kehinde Adebayo, says efforts were ongoing to get others who were on board the 20-seater boat.

“Search and rescue are still ongoing for the other missing persons yet to be found by officials of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and Marine Police with support from the local divers. Community leaders, as well as local fishermen in the area, have been informed to avail the agency of any information through the emergency toll-free lines 112/767 to enhance total recovery”, the statement said.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) are still searching for missing people at the time of filing this report.
