10 injured as suspected gang members clash with OPC in Ibadan
No fewer than ten people were reportedly injured Monday evening in Omi- Adio area of Ibadan when some members of a gang called “Gobe” clashed with members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).
The trouble started when about twenty members of the “Gobe” gang, led by one Sarafa, attacked some members of OPC at Ido junction Monday evening.
A source in the area informed journalists that apart from the OPC members, the rampaging “Gobe” gang members also inflicted injuries on passers-by, who came to board commercial motorcycles back to their homes at the Ido junction after the working hours on Monday.
The source informed DAILY POST that it took the intervention of a team of policemen from the Omi-Adio police station before the violence was prevented from escalating, as OPC members in the community had already mobilized themselves.
Chairman of OPC in Ido Local Government Area, Comrade Muritala Adekola while speaking with journalists on the matter on Tuesday said he had however reported the attack on his members to police at the Omi-Adio Police Station.
