SWITZERLAND, JUNE 26 – About 33.7 million telephone lines allocated to some telecommunications operators have been withdrawn from the National Numbering Plan (NNP).
The numbering plan is used to allocate a unique national number to each subscriber connected to the national telephone system.
A document released on Thursday by the Nigerian Communications Commission shows it also returned 7.49 million telephone lines to Nigerian Telecommunications Limited and three other telecom operators
Meanwhile, over 500 million new telephone numbers have been provided for telecommunications operators from the National Numbering Plan of the NCC.
The new telephone numbers added in the second quarter of 2020 belong to operators such as MTN Nigeria, Globacom, 21st Century Technology, 9mobile, Intercellular, iPNX, NATCOM, Smile, Spectranet, Swift and Visafone, among others.
