
Besides the cripling fuel shortage crisis, the Guaranty Trust Bank vs Innoson conflict has been the major talking point in the Nigerian public sphere.
A few days ago, operatives of the EFCC stormed the home of the CEO of Innoson motors, Innocent Chukwuma and whisked him away under questionable circumstances.
The incident has been linked to a running dispute with GTB, which Innoson accused of failing to remit excess bank charges even after pay loan owed to the bank.
Another dimension introduced into the issue was that of ethnic discrimination. Some people beleived that Chukwuma was been persecuted because of his Igbo origin. Some even alleged that GTB told him he would be left off the hook if he could move his company to Lagos.
