Thirty-six ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods are expected to arrive Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports in Lagos very soon
The development came as fuel queues were noticed in some stations in Lagos and its environs on Monday. Some filling stations on Ikorodu Road, Lagos Island and Kudirat Abiola Road didn’t have supply as at yesterday. Few others that had supply were greeted with long queues which obstructed vehicular movement.
Spokesman of the NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, attributed the return of the queues to panic buying and the desire of some fuel marketers to divert products with a view to cheating consumers. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) however stated in its publication, “Shipping Position” on Monday that a total of 16 ships out of the expected 36 ships would sail in with petrol.
