SWITZERLAND, FEBRUARY 11 – First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has promised to support Dele, a young girl who was using light from its Automated Teller Machine (ATM), in Ondo State, to do her homework.
Dele first came to the fore after Bada Maruf Matthew@Marmatbada, tweeted: “I saw this little Dele at FCMB Bank along Yaba Road in Ondo City. She is using the ATM Gallery light to do her homework. My respect goes to her determination to make it in life. Let it go viral. #Deledetermination.”
The tweet went viral and finally got to FCMB Management who asked people through the Bank’s official Twitter account to help find Dele so that she could be sponsored.
The action of the girl has also generated heated discussions on social media on the failing and epileptic power supply in the Nigeria. The majority of discussants insisted that power supply situation in the country had failed the girl and many other Nigerians.
On February 9th, FCMB responded with a tweet:
“We are inspired by Dele’s determination to study. It’s great our ATM Gallery could light her books for the evening, but we would love to do more to support. Can you please help us find Dele? Please RT until it gets to someone who knows her.”
Today’s ECho gathers that
an account was opened for Dele at the FCMB, with Bada Mathew present.
FCMB has also reportedly offered to sponsor the girl’s schooling.
