SWITZERLAND, JANUARY 06 – A massive protest is underway at the Nigerian headquarters of Chevron against Jeff Ewing, Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited(CNL)
Today’s Echo’s correspondent reported seeing hordes of people in red T-shirts gathering on the oustkirts of the office premises as early as 10:am on Monday.
People in red shirts could be seen right from Chevron roundabout down the Chevron drive gathering in groups. There are also several banners with inscriptions critical of Jeff Ewings. One such banner reads: “Bye bye to Jeff Ewing, Lacks Integrity, Racist Attitude…..”
A source told Today’s Echo that employees of the global oil company have been on strike since December 2019 due to some unfulfilled demands and what they perceive as discrepancies in the treatment of expats and Nigerian staff.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Chevron branch has called for the removal of the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Chevron Mr Jeff Ewing.
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) announced the appointment of Mr Jeffrey Ewing to the position of Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron companies in Nigeria, in January 1, 2017.
