Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji is trending on Twitter as she comes under heavy criticisms for taking down a story she published a few days ago about two young men who were arrested for drugging, raping and filming a 23 yr-old girl in Lekki, Lagos.
Update: New reports indicate that Linda Ikeji has reposted the story
According to the ongoing gist on Twitter, the two suspects; Don Chima and Razak, have been released by the police and the purported video deleted. Not only that, the victim’s brother who reported the case to the police has allegedly been arrested and now, the story has disappeared from Linda Ikeji’s website.
Many Twitter users in Nigeria are worried that pressure from the suspects’ family who are suspected to be wealthy, must have led to Linda Ikeji pulling down the story. Some even alleged that Linda Ikeji has been paid to take it down.
It is worrisome for many that a rape case may simply die down and the victim may not receive justice. The harshtag #justiceforrapeinnigeria is also trending.

I’m just here, thinking of all the women who didn’t have video evidence.
We are talking about these boys right now because they were stupid enough to film.
Believe victims, Don’t trivialize, Don’t shame. #JusticeForRapeInNigeria
