Oscars: Mahershala Ali, Regina King, Lady win
The 91st Academy Awards is underway at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Mahershala Ali won best supporting actor for “Green Book,” and Regina King won best supporting actress for “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper gave an emotional performance of the Oscar-winning song “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born.”
Hannah Beachler (production design) and Ruth E. Carter (costume design) became only the second and third black women to ever win non-acting Oscars.
“Green Book” won best original screenplay. It was written by Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie and Peter Farrelly. Vallelonga, who wrote the book on which the film was based, thanked his parents. Farrelly thanked his cast, agents, publicists, production executives, family and the entire state of Rhode Island.
